Ptech's TeamWork™ collaborative modeling software is a multi-user, team coordination capability that allows greater scalability and effectiveness among modelers who are developing complex, integrated Enterprise Architectures. TeamWork is an add-on to Ptech’s flagship Enterprise FrameWork™ enterprise architecture (EA) and business process modeling software, which allows modelers to work independently in sessions and integrate their work into a Master KnowledgeBase (KB) for the entire team. TeamWork’s collaborative modeling capabilities minimize the overhead required to coordinate team efforts on complex projects, and help assure that work done by each modeler is fully integrated into the Master KnowledgeBase.

Today's Enterprise Architecture collaborative modeling requirements include:

  • Large complex problems that must be divided amongst team members
  • Team members working concurrently on individual pieces
  • Work done by team members must be easily reintegrated

Ptech's TeamWork addresses the dilemma of keeping multiple modelers synchronized when working concurrently on related architectural components. TeamWork includes innovative interactive conflict resolution features, including merging model elements and diagram integration, which give modelers a user-friendly graphical and interactive interface and full control over how work is integrated into the larger KnowledgeBase. TeamWork also provides the ability for controlling security, by locking at the diagram level, to enforce division of work and prevent undesirable conflicts. TeamWork supports work done either remotely offline or onsite, further increasing team and individual productivity levels.

TeamWork lets a modeler start a session and work either online or offline until they are ready to commit their session to the Master KnowledgeBase. During a session, the modeler can do their assigned tasks, from beginning to end, while TeamWork records all changes related to associated diagrams, elements and relationships. When the modeler is ready to commit, TeamWork automatically refreshes their copy of the Master KnowledgeBase, retroactive to when their session first began. If conflicts are detected between work done during their session and the latest version of the Master KnowledgeBase, the interactive conflict resolution feature is activated. This gives the modeler a detailed explanation and range of choices to easily resolve the conflict. Some of the interactive conflict resolution capabilities include:

  • Merging model elements
  • Resolving naming conflicts
  • Satisfying relationship constraints
  • Pausing to use full Enterprise FrameWork modeling capabilities to resolve complex restraints
  • Diagram integration
